Causes of Genetic Variation In Meiosis
1. Crossing Over (Synapsis): the process through which homologous pairs lined up beside each other in prophase of meiosis are able to swap sections of their DNA.

2. Independent Assortment: describes the independent separation of different genes during the production of reproductive cells.
​
3. Nondisjunction: occurs when homologous pairs do not separate correctly, resulting in cells with either too many or too few chromosomes.
